● Select intake for application: Winter (October) or Summer (April). Winter is the main intake in Germany, with the most number of programs and scholarships available. Summer is a smaller intake, with fewer options and opportunities. Start your application process 6 to 12 months before your desired intake.
● Research and shortlist the universities and programs. You can speak to our overseas education consultants to learn about admission requirements, deadlines, fees, rankings, and scholarships of different universities and programs in Germany.
● Double-check if your school-leaving certificate or bachelor’s degree is recognized as a higher education entrance qualification in Germany. This depends on your country of origin, your level of education, and your chosen program. If your qualification is not recognized, you may have to take a foundation course or a higher education entrance examination before applying.
● Appear for language tests, such as IELTS, TOEFL, PTE, CAEL, or TestDaF.
● Apply to your shortlisted universities through their official websites or a common application portal, such as uni-assist or hochschulstart.de. Pay an application fee of EUR 0 to EUR 75 depending on the university and program.
● If accepted, confirm the offer and pay a tuition deposit within the specified deadline.
● Apply for a student visa from the German government – show your proof of acceptance from a Designated Learning Institution (DLI), proof of financial support, proof of identity, health insurance (TK), and medical examination results. The student visa fee is EUR 75

1. Identify the area of jurisdiction which applies to the student’s state of residence
2. Identify the Visa type
There are two types of visa issued by the German government based on the duration of stay.
● C Type: Schengen Visa (short stay upto 3 months)
● D Type: National Visa (stay longer than 3 months)
3. Book online visa appointment
4. Open a blocked account with a deposit of 10,513 EUR for living expenses in Germany.
5. Completion of documentation
For the visa appointment, you must bring three sets of the necessary documentation, consisting of two
sets of photocopies and one set of the originals.
Depending on the course and qualification of each student, the list of documents may change.
6. Submit Visa application (Germany High Commission or at VFS Global Application Centre)
7. Pay the Visa application fee
Mode of paying visa fee could be different for different areas of jurisdiction -Demand Draft, Cash,
Debit/Credit Card
